1. You will work on this practical exercise in five separate groups (Primarily within A365 in your broken down group) within your Week #4 Practical Exercise (See group breakdown below).
Group Echo: Construct the linear Line of Operation(LoO) for the overall 1st AD campaign, as well as the supporting Lines of Effort (LoE) (for Phase II) for the 1AD Campaign, utilizing the Atropian OPORD, as well as Phase 2 Significant Events material (M451)
2. Each group will balance their information against understanding the 1st AD OE in ATROPIA. Include information gleaned from previous lessons (Significant Event Handouts located throughout previous lessons)
3. Combine information into a presentation into your Group that presents a robust Operational Approach (OA) for your overarchng Line of Operation for the Campaign, as well as your supporting Lines of Effort.
a. Information used to determine OA (Guidance, Higher HQ intent, Mission, OE variables, Stability Tasks, Problem Statement, etc.)
b. Ends, Ways, Means
c. Elements of Operational Design (Termination, Military End State, Objectives, Effects, Center of Gravity, Decisive Points, Lines of Operation/Lines of Effort, Direct and indirect approach, Anticipation, Operational reach, Culmination, Arranging Operations, Forces and functions) As required
d. A restated Mission Statement based on combination of above info.
e. An Operational Approach derived by combining the above info with your experience, intellect, creativity, intuition, education, etc.
You will utilize the groups established within A365 to collaborate and develop your LoO and LoE final product. It is necessary to use the Atropian Iron OPORD and all associated Annexes to gather the necessary information for your planning. It is necessary to refer back to either the lesson or JP 5-0 to determine the Inputs and Outputs for each step of the joint planning process.
DIRECTIONS FOR YOUR LINE OF OPERATION and LINES OF EFFORT FINAL PRODUCT:
1. YOU WILL PROVIDE NO LESS THAN ONE SLIDE THAT DEPICTS THE 1AD LINE OF OPERATION AND YOUR ASSIGNED PHASE LINES OF EFFORT.
2. WITHIN YOUR SLIDE PROVIDED, YOU WILL ALSO PROVIDE (IN SUMMARY/NO MORE THAN ONE PARAGRAPH) THE ANALYSIS AND REASONING BEHIND, AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF YOUR GROUP AGREED UPON FINAL LINE OF OPERATION AND SUPPORTING LINES OF EFFORT AS IT PERTAINS TO THE 1AD CAMPAIGN AND PHASE BREAKDOWN.
3. ONCE COMPLETE, YOU WILL PRESENT YOUR FINAL LINES OF OPERATION AND SUPPORTING LINES OF EFFORT WITHIN THE WEEK #5 CLASSROOM COLLABORATION SESSION. THERE IS NO NEED FOR PEER REPLIES FOR THIS PRACTICAL EXERCISE.
This is your small group breakdown for collaboration on your JPP Practical Exercise project. After you have developed your group LOO and LOEs slide, create a final slide that depicts the 1st AD LoO, as well as your Phase supporting Lines of Effort.
