Essay Prompt
Write an essay (1000-1200 words) analyzing from global, local/CUNY, and literary perspectives the causes and effects of factors (eg: pandemic, gender discrimination and social inequalities) contributing to hunger and food insecurity.
In what ways does hunger affect academic success of CUNY students? How does literature use food as a metaphor to highlight tradition/social/cultural/gender/economic differences in society. Discuss with examples.
What strategies did you implement (through LHI) to address the issue? Discuss your experience and how it helped raise awareness about the problem experienced by LaGuardia students.
Your essay should clearly define food insecurity, analyze the problems/effects of hunger/food insecurity, and discuss strategies you took/required to combat food insecurity.
Remember to include a work cited page and use at least 4-5 varied sources.
IPS=Inquiry and Problem Solving
Intro=thesis
Body Paragraphs (exploring the thesis from global, local, literary with evidence supporting the thesis). Body parahs can be multiple.
