Peer review, known as refereeing in some academic fields, is (to quote the un-peer-reviewed Wikipedia) a process of subjecting an author’s scholarly work, research, or ideas to the scrutiny of others who are experts in the same field (Ware, 2008). Peer review is important because it offers many benefits. It benefits authors, editors, and readers. Peer-reviewed articles are supported by the decision of experts and readers benefit because of the filtering that peer review provides. Peer review is important in evidence-based practice because it guarantees the quality of service and effectiveness (Spencer et al., 2013). Peer review improves the quality of published papers and helps scientific communication. Peer review can be facilitated by teaching students techniques and skills that can be used to review articles. Teaching students about the importance of peer review is essential to promote its practice.

A peer review is an evaluation of your work carried out by someone who is familiar with the work you are delivering. The review is an assessment of what was written and may result in an amended version of the work since the work is normally something written. Peer review is the practice of submitting an author’s academic work, research, or ideas for review by other professionals in a comparable field. ( Kelly et al. ,2014) In evidence-based practice, peer review is crucial so that experts in the field can evaluate your study. Any inconsistencies in your argument will be easier to identify by someone who works directly with the same things you do. Concrete examples, forcing the author of the work to respond to questions, and encouraging them to do so can all help to support a peer review. Peer review is a crucial step in the research process since it strengthens the validity of the findings and supporting data.
