Conflict can occur in an infinite number of ways in an unending array of contexts in micro, mezzo, and macro situations. Managing conflict often involves interactive conflict resolution processes such as negotiation, mediation, advocacy, and arbitration.
Create a 4-8-slide PowerPoint presentation that informs an audience how you would go about resolving an organizational or community problem which you have identified. Record yourself giving the presentation using Zoom. While recording the videos, it is important that you maintain a professional demeanor. Read the “Video Best Practices” document to assist you. Include the following in your presentation:
A discussion of the type of category within which the conflict lies, (e.g., Is it interest/commitment, induced, misattributed, structural).
A discussion of the strategy (negotiation, mediation, advocacy, or arbitration) you would use.
A discussion of the steps/procedures you would take in resolving the problem (e.g., confrontation, establish common ground, emphasize the importance of communication).
An explanation of the rationale for your choices. Refer to Social Work Disposition #4: Value: Importance of Human Relationships; Ethical Principle: Social workers recognize the central importance of human relationships when responding to this prompt.
While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. A link to the LopesWrite technical support articles is located in Class Resources if you need assistance.

The research paper proposal should be three paragraphs:
The first paragraph outlines the topic and thesis statement of the research paper. It informs the reader (your professor) of the basic answer to the questions:
What will this research paper be about?
What will this paper argue?
Like most any paragraph, this one should be more than three sentences that provide the instructor the essentials of your topic and thesis. This portion of your proposal should directly reflect the instructions that were given for this assignment. If you do not have instructions that are clear enough to craft a research paper proposal be sure to get in touch with your course instructor for clarity.
The second paragraph should detail your plan for finding the proper sources that are needed to prove the thesis you are drafting or it should list the sources you intend to use if you have already found those sources. This step gives your course instructor an opportunity to provide feedback on the quality of sources. It may also be an opportunity for the instructor to help point you in the right direction to acquire good sources.
For the final paragraph, you can outline your predictions of how your paper will provide an opportunity to expand the readers understanding of the topic overall. This paragraph should argue the importance of the work and demonstrate to the reader the value gained by reading the research paper.
Topics for Research Paper Essay 3
Cybersecurity
Anti-trust Laws
Compensation for College Athletes
Body Dysmorphic Disorder
Censorship of Art and/or Literature
Inadequate University Access

Unit 5 DB: Expressing a Position and Providing Evidence
Most academic assignments and essays require you to take a position on a topic. In this discussion board, you will make a choice of where you stand on one of the options. Do you prefer the city or the country? Why? Do you prefer Halloween or Thanksgiving? Why?.
Initial Response:
Select one of the following options and decide which side you prefer over the other. Write a paragraph that reflects why you chose one side over the other with three substantial reasons. For example, I choose to get my coffee at Starbucks over Dunkin for the following three reasons. The paragraph should be 5 to 7 sentences.
The city vs. the country
The beach vs. the mountains
Starbucks vs. Dunkin Donuts
Summer vs. Winter
Thanksgiving vs. Halloween
Peer Response: In response to your peers, review your peers’ responses and respond on whether you agree with their opinion and if they supported it completely. What would you have added to the argument?
Your initial post is due by Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. EST, and at least two (2) follow-up replies to classmates are due by Sunday at 11:59 p.m., EST of Unit 5.

Review your annotations from Whey We Sleep and class discussions. What interested you? What do you have an opinion about? What do you want to find out more about?
Ask yourself HOW/WHY questions about Why We Sleep. Here is a “how/why” questions I might ask after reading Why We Sleep: “How can society better accommodate people with “night owl” tendencies?” “Since caffeine has such an impact on sleep, should schools stop putting caffeinated energy drinks in vending machines?” The answer to that question – a short, clear statement of opinion – would serve as the foundation of a claim. Your claim needs to be loosely related to the text, but feel free to get creative here.
Based on the above advice, write your claim (your opinion, which you can back up with information in the book/articles). Place it toward the beginning of your paper; typically, in an academic paper, you will find a claim in the last sentence of the paper’s introduction. Remember, you want to write an EXPLICIT argument, which means your claim must be debatable. A lot of the information Walker shares is simply factual and not debatable; you want to USE that information to support a debatable claim you are making.
Once you have a clear, concise claim, find 3-4 pieces of evidence that support that claim.
You will find some of this evidence within Why We Sleep.
You should find at least one ADDITIONAL credible source to add to your argument.
You can (and should) use personal experience as evidence when you can.
Build P.I.E. paragraphs around each of those pieces of evidence. Make sure you create APA in-text citations for each.
Put together a references page using APA formatting.

Due Thursday
You make dozens of choices and decisions each day, often without being consciously aware of them. Because critical thinking may be more rigorous than everyday thinking, it is important to recognize some factors that can influence the effectiveness of critical thinking, including reason, communication, and emotion.
Please respond to all the questions below. Your response should be a minimum of 175 words total (approx. 50 words per question).
How do emotions positively and negatively influence critical thinking?
Describe how you balance your emotion and reason when making decisions. Include an example of when you had to use both.
Ch. 3 of THiNK: Critical Thinking and Logic Skills for Everyday Life covers the topic of language and communication, which also play a role in critical thinking. Explain the role of communication in critical thinking and provide an example of when and how language or communication influenced your critical thinking.
Reflect on the learning activities, concepts, ideas, and topics covered this week. Discuss the most interesting activity or concept you learned this week and mention any concepts that are still a bit confusing to you or that you have questions about.

Due Monday
Reply to at least 2 of your classmates’ or your instructor’s posts with substantive replies. (These should add to/build on the discussion in a substantial way, which typically means they are at least 75-100 words, or several sentences long). Be constructive and professional in your responses.

Before you begin your outline, go to the Assignments area of the classroom. Read what is required for your final paper and build your outline accordingly. The template and sample attached there will help you.
Your outline should include your thesis statement, a descriiption of the problem, alternative solutions (if you are exploring solutions), and the solution you are advocating (if you are suggesting a solution). Be sure that the elements of the outline are complete sentences. Please note that, if you have one subheading in a category, you should have a second subheading. Samples of outlines are attached.
I have attached the “Sharing the Problem” document for your reference to the outline. This is an ongoing assignment please use the information in the document to complete the outline for the final paper.
Final Paper instructions are below to assist you for the outline.
This analysis project requires you to tackle a problem within your field of study by first exploring it, its causes, and its impacts. Then, if you want, you can recommend one or more practical solutions to solve the problem.
After deciding on the problem you wish to tackle, begin building questions about it. Your goal for the analysis is to answer the questions through your sources. Finding multiple angles and perspectives is ideal so that you explore those possibilities in the final paper before settling on your recommendation. Be sure to identify what is at stake.
Here are questions to help guide your analysis:
What is the problem being addressed (explain, describe, and “prove” that it exists)?
Who is affected by this problem?
Why does this problem exist? (Identify the root causes.)
Why does the problem persist? (Identify the major factors that contribute to the problem’s ongoing presence.)
What is at stake if the problem is not solved?
If you decide to include a solution, use these questions to guide you:
Who can take action?
What should they do, exactly?
Why would this help?
What are the positive and negative aspects of your solution(s)?

The Body paragraphs are the section of the paper that comes after the Literature Review. Whereas the Literature Review focused on showcasing the information from your source materials, the Body paragraphs represent the argumentative part of the paper where you will support the thesis statement. Before you begin the Body paragraphs, it is important that you make the suggested revisions to the Introduction and Literature Review from the feedback you received. Be sure to include the introduction and literature review you have already created and revised in this submission. After the Body paragraphs, you will write the paper’s conclusion paragraph and include a References page.
Body of Research Paper:
In this assignment, you will write 3 to 4 body paragraphs according to the form that is explained in Unit VI, Lesson 3: “The Body Paragraphs.” The Body paragraphs should support the argument made in the thesis statement; essentially, this section should give your reader the information, support, and explanation to believe your paper’s claim. The following requirements must be included in the assignment:
Body Paragraphs (roughly 500 words):
You will construct 3 to 4 paragraphs comprised of 5 to 7 sentences each. The following components must be included in each body paragraph (in the following order):
Point/reason sentence: This topic sentence will contain one of your reasons.
Explanation: In this sentence, you provide information that further develops or explains Sentence 1.
Illustration: This sentence introduces evidence that supports the reason that is presented in Sentence 1.
Explanation of the illustration: Because the evidence does not necessarily stand on its own, you need to provide an explanation so that the reader will understand how you interpreted the evidence to come to your reason.
Second illustration and explanation (optional): You may choose to include a second piece of evidence that is then followed by an explanation.
Transition: In this sentence, you will signal to the reader that you will be moving on to another point in the next paragraph. You do this to ease the movement from one point to another.
Use APA Style to cite and reference all sources used to support your argument.
Conclusion:
The Conclusion paragraph is your final opportunity to connect with the reader and emphasize the importance of the issue and argument. The conclusion should be roughly 6 to 8 sentences and should follow the structure below:
Revisit the controversy.
Emphasize the seriousness of the controversy.
Answer the “So what?” question.
Suggest a general solution (optional).
Call for awareness/action.
Leave the reader with a final thought.
Finally, include a references page at the end of your document that cites all sources used within the paper.
(Topic is looking at the effects of mental health of teenagers with social media exposure. Pro side is social media does have a negative impact on adolescents. Con side of the argument is social media is healthy for the mental health of teenagers.
