Concept Questions (select one)
Many students have difficulty with the concept that the only force acting upon an upward moving projectile is gravity. Your friend is convinced that there must be something else at work in this situation. In everyday language, write out how you would explain to your friend what is really happening to the projectile. Try to describe a real-life situation (except for sports) to help your case.
Projectile motion can be found in many types of sports. Find a website that describes how projectile motion is being used in a certain sport (videos are great). Summarize in your own words the motion that is being displayed and include in your summary all the variables involved and how players make use of changing one or more of these variables.
Think of a motion you might do on a daily basis (in 2-dimensions). Describe the full motion in everyday words and then summarize how this motion could be described using vectors, including angles and distances. Also discuss how you could determine your displacement vector. Can you find a real-life application of someone using this type of information in their profession? If so describe it.
