You completed a simulation in which you attempt to move up or down the social class ladder. The consequences of your decisions show how family and your initial social class influence the prospects of social mobility. Answer the following questions regarding your experiences with the simulation.
1. Which path did you choose—to rise in social class or to fall? If you haven’t done so already, be sure to explore both paths. Describe your reactions to the choices you faced in both paths. What was the most difficult decision for you to make in each? Explain why you made the decision you did and why it was difficult. Which, if any, results surprised you? Why?

2. Based on your experiences with this simulation, how does social mobility affect family relationships? In what ways do relationships with parents and siblings change when a person moves either up or down the social ladder?

3. The simulation shows that a family’s social class can either help or constrain social mobility. Based on your simulated path(s), what are three other potential aids and/or constraints to social mobility?
